- Forget the Elevator: When going vertical, forgo automated transportation (such as the escalator or the elevator) and instead, take the stairs. This is especially good if you have to go up 7 flights or less or go down 9 flights or less. And, if you DO take an escalator, make sure to climb up or down instead of just standing in place.
- Pass on Public Transportation: If you are traveling two or less miles, consider walking instead of taking public transportation to work. It will help you get fresh air and some activity. If your route is longer than two miles, try shortening your public transportation time by getting off a stop or two early and walking the rest of the way.
- Active Television: When watching your favorite shows, try doing chores (laundry or cleaning) or even some sit-ups or push-ups.
- Move at Lunch: Instead of sitting at your desk for lunch, walk for half an hour of your lunch break. Bring sneakers to work so that you can take a walk without hurting your feet in work shoes.
